TEAR YOU APART - CHAPTER 4: LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Whenever the hallways seemed to be completely empty, Lord Sinister eventually led Rex out of the guest room and into what seemed to be his army's shower facility. He hadn't intended to tell Rex what he would be doing with him there, so Rex was left utterly clueless. Rex was honestly more focused on how the hell an entire underground fortress could've been built in the first place...
Once they were there, Rex was then sat on a stool and was told not to get up from it unless he said to do otherwise. Rex complied without much question.
"...You know, this seems like the type of situation you would need a lot of makeup for, but since you're naturally hideous, I don't believe we will need much."
"And what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Rex frowned at the other's casual insult toward him.
"Well, for starters, you have a horrible acne problem. I mean, have you even looked at yourself? Your face looks like a game of connect-the-dots."
Rex sputtered. He honestly couldn't even come up with a good excuse as to why his face looked so bad, though it was most likely from stress...
"Though, I doubt your unkempt appearance would be enough to fool anyone. Let's see... ah, here we are." Lord Sinister picked up what appeared to be an eyeliner pencil from the sink countertop, much to Rex's confusion. Supposedly one of the witches left it behind.
"Now then, hold still." Lord Sinister suddenly grabbed a hold of Rex's chin, bringing the pencil up to his face. He drew crude stitch marks all along Rex's face, trying his best to be precise despite the difficulty brought by how small the pencil was in comparison to his hand. Of course, Rex couldn't help but be fidgety. "Can you stop squirming for one second?? It's not like it's going to hurt you-" Lord Sinister said sternly, and Rex only muttered a quiet "sorry" in response.
Once Lord Sinister was finished, he let go of Rex and took a step back, admiring his work. "Yes, this will do, but we're still not quite done here yet. Come." He motioned Rex to follow him, leading him to what appeared to be an empty locker room. At the far corner of it, there was a cardboard box, with the words "Lost & Found" poorly written on the front of it. "Go and see if you can find anything useful in there." Lord Sinister ordered as he began searching through the lockers.
Rex had a lost look on their face, but they hesitantly did as they were told, rummaging through the box for anything that stuck out to them. A majority of the clothes he found were either ripped to shreds or covered in dubious stains. After another moment of looking though, he eventually pulled out what looked like a white button-up lab coat. Talk about a case of deus ex machina...
-
When Lord Sinister was seen again, a few reported seeing someone wearing a lab coat, black latex gloves, and a pair of nerdy looking glasses walking beside him. Nobody had seen them before, and everyone was clueless about their presence until Lord Sinister made an unexpected announcement.
"My soldiers, I want to introduce you all to our newest recruit. Please welcome our new Head Scientist, Dr. Norvegicus."
Already, there were hushed murmurs among the crowd, most sounding skeptical or confused.
"...As his title implies, he will be aiding us in the development of new technology and resources for our plans in reclaiming Trick or Threat Town. His involvement will be effective immediately."
When the crowd's attention was then directed towards Rex himself, he only stared back at them with an anxious expression and didn't say a word until he was given an insistent pat on the back, causing him to flinch. "I'm looking forward to working with you all!!!" He faltered, his voice cracking halfway through his sentence. That didn't seem to help everyone's lack of confidence in him.
Lord Sinister sighed. "Please excuse him, he's not used to having so many eyes on him at once. One of Patient Zero's guys, you all know how they are." That somehow managed to dispel everyone's initial skepticism, though it was really just a lie he made up on the spot. "Anyway, you are all dismissed." All of the soldiers gave Lord Sinister a salute before everyone eventually left the room. Rex let out a relieved sigh, though his respite ended up being short lived as Lord Sinister then leaned over his shoulder.
"I do hope that you weren't lying earlier, because as long as you're here, I expect you to know what you're doing."
